The Importance of Returning to God's Word

Welcome back, family and friends of the Gospel Newsletter—Great Is Thy Faithfulness. As we begin the month of May, I am delighted to reconnect with you and share once again a message of returning to God’s word. In these times, it is more important than ever to center our lives on scripture and not the opinions of others, allowing it to guide, strengthen, and renew us. Let us explore together why God’s word remains a steadfast foundation for our faith and daily living.

As believers in Christ, it is essential that we turn our hearts/minds back to His Word. Put me in remembrance (Isaiah 43:26) God tells us His Word cannot come back void (Isaiah 55:11 KJV) So shall my Word be that go forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please. Speak over your life, children, husband, wife, business, finances with the Word of God (Proverbs 18:21) Death and life are in the power of the tongue. Did you know that the Lord said He has placed his Word above his name. (Psalm 138:2)

Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. (Psalm 119:11) By treasuring God's word within ourselves, we find guidance and strength to resist temptation and remain faithful.

Moreover, God's word acts as a lamp for our feet and a light for our path (Psalm 119:105). It lightens the way before us, helping us discern right from wrong, and leading us in the direction God desires for our lives.

His words are not only guidance; it is life itself. The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall, I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; whom shall I be afraid? (Psalm 27:1) Jesus says, the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life." Through God's word, we are nourished spiritually, renewed, and empowered to live in accordance with His will for our lives. (John 6:63)

Prayer

Great is Thy Faithfulness

Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus, anchor us again in Your Word that cannot be altered, edited, or replaced. Let every part of our lives come under the authority of what You have spoken according to your will for us. Make us a people who do not add to Your Word, do not take away from it, and do not twist it to fit our desires — but who stand firm, planted like trees that will take root.

Lord, make our hearts bold as lions, unafraid to stand for truth in a generation that bends under pressure. And make our spirits gentle as doves, carrying Your truth with humility, purity, and love. Let boldness and gentleness work together in us so that our witness reflects the character of Christ.

Keep us rooted, Father. Rooted when culture shifts. Rooted when opinions rise. Rooted when deception increases. Rooted when the enemy whispers confusion.

For You are not the author of confusion, and we refuse to partner with anything that distorts, dilutes, or distracts from the true gospel.

By Your Spirit, empower us to pull down strongholds, cast down arguments, and tear down every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God. Let every lie be exposed. Let every false teaching be revealed. Let every counterfeit voice be silenced by the authority of Your Word.

Strengthen our discernment. Create in us a clean Heart and renew a right spirit within us.

Amen
